Flavours of Malta & Gozo – Bragjoli
On Saturday, 29th March, join Heritage Malta for a unique culinary and historical experience at the Inquisitor’s Palace in Birgu, running from 10:00 am to 12:30 pm. This event offers a deep dive into Maltese and Gozitan cuisine, with a special focus on braġjoli. The session also highlights the cultural significance of food, especially how religious customs influenced local eating habits. Participants will learn about "giorni di magro" (lean days) and "giorni di grasso" (rich days), which shaped the diets of past generations.
This hands-on cooking experience provides an opportunity to prepare this traditional dish while exploring its historical context. The bilingual session is aimed at adults and is limited to just 10 participants, ensuring an intimate, personalized learning environment. Attendees are encouraged to bring containers to take home their culinary creations.
To ensure a spot, be sure to book early either online through the Heritage Malta Store or in person at any participating museums or sites.
